  1. Malcolm A Cox, age 86, of Manchester died January 11, 2018, at Hospice House, Ohio's Hospice of Dayton. Born March 28, 1931 to Cody and Margaret Cox, he graduated from Manchester High School in 1949.

  2. The Adams County Ohio Valley School District on Monday, Jan. 8 seated two newly elected school board members. Gay Lynn Shipley and David Riley were administered the oath of office by Adams County Common Pleas Judge Brett Spencer during a ceremony held at the Ohio Valley Career and Technical Center in West Union.

  3. When U.S. Army veteran Justin Richmond left his home in Manchester four months ago, he was pursuing his dream to serve others. He wanted to help his fellow veterans - the men and women who wear the scars of battle on their bodies and the wounds of war in their minds.

  4. Emergency crews on Monday morning, Jan. 8 were called to rescue a fallen horse after it wandered onto a large frozen pond in northern Adams County. Firefighters from the Peebles and Franklin Township Fire Departments, two Sheriff's deputies, and several local individuals responded to the owner's call for help.

Brown County Prosecutor Zac Corbin says he believes that law enforcement officials acted in accordance with proper legal procedures when they arrested and charged an Adams County man with murder in Aug. 2017. The defense counsel for John R. Crum, who is accused of murder, has filed a motion asking Brown County Common Pleas Judge, Scott T. Gusweiler, to dismiss all charges against their client, or suppress all evidence gathered by authorities at the time of his arrest.

  6. Martha Hayslip, 76, of West Union, Ohio passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at the Adams County Regional Medical Center in Seaman, Ohio. She was born May 19, 1941 in Adams County, Ohio.

  7. Southern State Community College has released its president's and dean's list for academic excellence for Fall Semester 2017. To be eligible for the president's list, a student must maintain a 4.0 grade point average while carrying a specific number of academic credit hours.

  8. Twenty-one year old Lane Williams of West Union bagged an unusual trophy when he harvested an 18-point "antlered" doe on Monday evening Dec. 11 near West Union. Lane spotted the unusual antlered specimen from trail camera pics shortly after gun season closed but had no idea it was a doe.

  9. On Tuesday, Dec. 19, the Manchester FFA Chapter made their sixth annual trip to the Adams County Manor. They brought board games to play with the residents of the Manor.

  10. North Adams Elementary held its school Spelling Bee on Dec. 14 where 36 spellers vied for the top four spots to represent NAES in the Adams County/Ohio Valley School District Spelling Bee on Feb. 8, 2018.
